Study from this data
What 214 running shoes show about rocker and stack in 2026: super shoes lift the toe higher but do not start their rocker earlier, brands have shape signatures, and new versions change less than launch marketing suggests.

What is in it, and what is not
- Brand-stated specs (stack, drop, weight, price), each with the page it came from in the values file. Brands measure differently; we record their figures as published.
- Our photo estimates (toe rocker, toe tip height, rocker rise angle, heel bevel, toe box shape), with the number of photos and their spread. How they compare with lab measurements is on the methodology page: toe tip and rise angle rank shoes well, toe rocker only clear differences, heel bevel length roughly.
- Not included: other labs' measurements (some stacks and weights, inside widths, and the stiffness and firmness scores we derive from a lab's readings). They belong to those labs; shoe pages show them with links to the source.
Columns
| Column | Unit | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| slug | — | ShoeGeometry identifier; the shoe page is shoegeometry.com/shoes/<slug> |
| brand, model, version | — | As named by the brand |
| release_year, status | — | Release year; current or discontinued |
| category, terrain, plate, foam | — | As in the catalogue |
| list_price_usd | — | Brand list price in US dollars |
| previous_version | — | Slug of the previous version of the same model, if listed |
| <measure>_source | — | brand, photo estimate or derived |
| weight_size | — | The size the weight refers to |
| drop_mm | mm | Heel-to-toe drop |
| heel_stack_mm | mm | Heel stack height |
| forefoot_stack_mm | mm | Forefoot stack height |
| weight_g | g | Weight (size in weight_size) |
| toe_rocker_pct | % of length | Toe rocker: share of length that curves up at the front (photo estimate) |
| toe_tip_height_mm | mm | Sole underside height at 97 % of length, for a 300 mm shoe (photo estimate) |
| rocker_rise_angle_deg | ° | Angle from where the rocker starts to the toe tip (photo estimate) |
| heel_bevel_pct | % of length | Heel bevel length (photo estimate, rough) |
| heel_bevel_height_mm | mm | Heel height at the heel corner, for a 300 mm shoe (photo estimate) |
| toe_box_shape_pct | % | Outline width at 90 % of length ÷ widest forefoot width (photo estimate) |
Millimetre values from photos assume a 300 mm shoe (men's US 9). Empty cells mean not measured, or measured only by another lab.
