High-stack running shoes

Rule: Forefoot stack of 35 mm or more · 26 current models

A high forefoot stack means a thick midsole under the ball of the foot. It is usually found in max-cushion trainers and plated racers.

Stack figures come from manufacturers or independent measurements and are labelled accordingly; conventions differ on whether the insole is included.

Questions

Does a thicker stack mean more cushioning?
